YOUTH CLIMATE AWARD

We are Excited About the Launch in 2020 !!

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), released in 2018, calls for a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 and net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. This is the minimum needed to prevent global temperatures rising above 1.5 °C over pre-industrial levels. This is also the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.

In response, WAFA is strengthening its engagements in the global communities to support climate change initiatives. The 2020 WAFA Youth Climate Award will focus on youth under 25 from the global South who are working for sustainable development while keeping fossil fuels in the ground. The Award will target projects that can be shared across the planet for replication. WAFA will also publicize the awarded projects for potential investments for required scale up in specific geographic locations globally.

WAFA is working on proposing to COP26 Team to honor the winners at a WAFA Youth Climate Award Event as part of the Glasgow COP26 in late 2020. The event will be livestreamed to a global audience.

El Panel intergubernamental sobre el Cambio Climático de las Naciones Unidas (IPCC) en 2018, pide una reducción del 50% de las emisiones de CO2 para el 2030 y cero emisiones de carbón para el 2050. Este es el mínimo requerido para impedir que las temperaturas globales suban más de1.5 °C por encima de los niveles pre-industriales. Además, esto constituye el mayor desafío al que se haya enfrentado la humanidad..

WAFA, en respuesta, está fortaleciendo sus compromisos en las comunidades globales, para apoyar las iniciativas sobre el cambio climático – las contribuciones visibles en 2020 para el desarrollo sostenible sobre la tierra, mientras se mantienen los combustibles fósiles dentro de la tierra. El Premio se enfocará en los proyectos que puedan ser compartidos y replicados por todo el planeta. Además, WAFA publicitará los proyectos premiados, para atraer la atención de posibles inversionistas, para su expansión en lugares geográficos específicos, globalmente..

WAFA está negociando con COP26 para honrar a los ganadores del Premio WAFA para Jóvenes por el Clima, como parte del COP26 en Glasgow a fines de 2020 . El evento será retransmitido en vivo a una audiencia global.

联合国政府间气候变化专门委员会（IPCC）于2018年发布，呼吁到2030年将二氧化碳排放量减少50%，到2050年实现零碳排放量。这是一项为了防止全球气温超过工业化前水平1.5 °C 以上所需的最低要求这。这也是人类有史以来所面临的最大挑战。

作为回应，WAFA正在全球范围内加强社区的参与，以支援应对气候变化的行动。2020年，WAFA 青年气候奖将会专注于全球发展中国家里将化石燃料保留在地下的同时、又对可持续发展付出努力的那些25岁以下的青年。该奖项将致力于寻求可复制的方案，与全球各地分享。WAFA 还会宣传获奖的方案，以期获得投资，让其能在全球特定地区扩展至所需要的规模。

WAFA 正在与 COP26 协商，将表彰 WAFA 青年气候奖活动中的获奖者作为 2020 年末格拉斯哥第26届缔约方会议 (COP26) 的一部分。活动将直播给全球观众。由格蕾塔·桑伯格引领的全球青年行动正在奋力唤醒我们所有人对这个问题的关注。
